The optimal addition to your beauty routine.
Cleansing, exfoliation, the right cream and sun protection, these are the basics for a well-groomed skin and to counteract premature aging.
However, would you like to enhance your beauty routine and get more out of your skin? Then a serum is the ideal product for you.
Serums contain a higher concentration of active ingredients. In combination with your cream, they allow you to specifically address the needs of your skin:
- Provide the skin with intensive moisture and vitamins.
- Smooth or plump out wrinkles.
- Counteract increased sebum production.
- Regenerate the skin.
- Give the skin more radiance and freshness.
- Soothe the skin.
- Counteract inflammation.
- Minimise pigmentation spots.
What is the difference between cream and serum?
One difference is clearly visible in the texture, serums are lighter and more fluid.
The molecular structure of a serum is much smaller than that of a cream, which allows the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. Active ingredients reach deep into the dermis, while a cream acts like a protective shield and has the task of protecting the epidermis, i.e. the upper layer of the skin - for example from wind, UV radiation or harmful environmental influences.
Which active ingredients does your skin need?
- If your skin looks tired, sallow and grey, use a serum with vitamin C. This will give your skin a fresh look.
- If you want to achieve an anti-ageing effect, serums with vitamin C or vitamin A (retinol) are suitable.
- Pigmentation spots are lightened by serums with vitamin C.
- Do you have dry, dehydrated skin? Hyaluron ensures optimal moisturisation of the skin. It regulates the water content of the skin and ensures even and smoother skin.
- If you have impure or oily skin, a hyaluron serum is also suitable to deeply moisturise the skin or a sebum regulating serum.
What should I bear in mind?
The serum is always applied under the skin care cream or sunscreen and should be left on for 1-2 minutes.
- Cleansing → Tonic → Serum → Cream/Sunscreen
Tip: Cleanse your face, apply the serum and then brush your teeth. This is the time the serum needs to be absorbed into the skin. This allows the active ingredients to all penetrate and take full effect.
If you were to apply the cream immediately after the serum, the serum would mix with the fatty parts of the cream and remain on the surface of the skin rather than working in depth.
In general, you are very free to choose your serum as it really depends on the active ingredients and the effect you want to achieve. Serums contain no or very little fat.
- Use serums with vitamin A (retinol) only in the evening.
You can even combine different serums depending on the effect you want to achieve.
Example of use for summer in a combination of 2:
- Apply a vitamin C serum in the morning and the sunscreen on top.
- In the evening, use a hyaluronic serum to replenish the skin's moisture depot, then finish with a cream that is tailored to your skin type.
