The healing properties of peat have been valued since the Middle Ages.

Prebiotic

The skin microbiome is a central element of the skin’s natural protective barrier. It consists of a variety of microorganisms, especially bacteria, that live in symbiosis with the skin: the skin depends on the microbiome, and vice versa. A disrupted balance in the microbiome can lead to visible skin changes, such as dryness or sensitivity.

To support the skin microbiome, prebiotics—“good food” for the microorganisms—can be used. The prebiotic used here, an alpha-glucan oligosaccharide, is derived through enzymatic biocatalysis from plant-based substrates such as sucrose and maltose.
